Eleven days after the concert, Helmut Lachenmann celebrates his 90th birthday. To mark the occasion, the festival presents two of his chamber music works, paying tribute to one of the most important and influential composers of our time.

Percussionist Richard Putz performs the solo piece Intérieur I from 1966, which the composer retrospectively considers his Opus 1. The guitar duo Nuno Pinto - Gil Fesch will perform Salut für Caudwell (1977), in which Lachenmann refers to Christopher Caudwell's call for art that knows its conditions and expresses them in the name of a freedom that encourages people to deal realistically with reality and its complex contradictions, rather than burying their heads in the sand or escaping into private idylls.
