Composer, performer, and multimedia artist Shasha Chen develops a multilayered project combining live music, electronics, performance, ritual movement, and multimedia elements. These forms of expression are brought together through Chen's situational practice of conceptual music theater. The work understands identity as a dynamic space of migration, in which the body is at once a medium, a metaphor, and a site of mythic and processes of negotiation. In doing so, it opens up perspectives on resistance, healing, connection, and reinvention within a present shaped by fragmentation and violence. Shasha Chen is a 2026 fellow of the Berlin Artists-in-Residence Program (DAAD).
